I had the pleasure to attend the second edition of Africa Fashion Week Montreal (June 17th & 18th 2016).
As announced, the event took place in the decor of an Art gallery in dowtown Montreal. Here is a sneak peek of some of the works exposed at the gallery.
Now on to the show! It was very colorful and diverse. Nothing like I’ve seen before. The runway show took part on both floors of the gallery. The models were walking around to let us examine and admire the clothes / accessories they were wearing. I have to admit that the set up made it hard to snap good pictures throughout the night but I managed to snap a few for my followers. A regular runway would have made it easier to capture the designs. However, it is a very interesting concept.
I will let the images speak from themselves. My words wouldn’t be enough to describe those pieces that were designed by very talented Caribbean and African designers. If I had to select a few words it would be: Unique, Colorful, Fresh, Surprising, Fun, Sophisticated… Just to name a few.
Below you will find a selection of my favorite styles or prints. Enjoy!
Which piece was your favorite? Mine was the lavender and black dress with the lace Appliqué. I need to recreate this look! Let’s keep this discussion going in the comment section!
Bonus: A video Recap of the collections featured the second night

That lavender dress IS beautiful! I also really like the red floral formal dress with the overlay. Very interesting construction. The funky men’s suits are also pretty cool. Thanks for sharing!
