I am totally getting ready for Spring! I am managing a Facebook Group for my Quebec Sewers. We had our first Sew-a-long and I challenged the group to make at least one Box-pleated skirt for the month of February.
I pulled out the very first pattern I worked with about 7 years ago in a sewing class. McCalls 5591. This pattern have 3 versions. I made view C. I left out the belt option.
I used a polyester crepe fabric for volume and movement.
I pretty much followed the pattern instructions and recommandations except for one thing: I installed an invisible zipper instead of a regular zipper. I felt that it would make the back pleat look better.
I love to have functional pockets in my skirts. These pockets are deep and well positioned.
I am officially working on upgrading my wardrobe and wearing more skirts and dresses. This pattern has officially made it to my top patterns to work with this Spring.
Do you have a go-to skirt pattern? Tell me about it in the comment!
Judith Dee.
